A Times article decribes how the class of 2005 is the first to be truly shaped by Sept. 11th. It’s interesting to think how our high school has been affected compared to college-level as pointed out in the article. Our freshmen year, the freshmen history course in the “Middle East” became a lot more popular. Parents, armed with current events, complained to the school for teaching “China” instead of a more relavent course. Now, 9/11 has creeped into textbooks. The APES text cites terrorism post-9/11 in several chapters including the one on nuclear energy. My French teacher compares and contrasts any movie or plays to terrorism and Bush. It’s hard to say what the final effect has been but one would hope it is toward a more educated and worldly individual in any level of education.
