“China Telecom to shutdown Internet telephony providers like Sykpe (sic)” – Yahoo! News
As an avid Skype user (AFP actually spelled it incorrectly in their headline as appearing on YahooNews), this seems a bit troubling even if they are not testing it in Shantou, where I am currently located. Thomas Friedman, author of The World is Flat, would say that China Telecom better get used to internet telephony because it ain’t going away. Maybe China Telecom should start their own version of internet telephony to market to 1.3 billion people.
Then again, so many companies are jumping into the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) business. For instnace, several weeks ago Google started its Google Talk software.
I keep trying to promote VoIP and Skype but if you’d rather do the research yourself: CNET.
