Students Are Leaving Politics Out of Economics – NYT
Right now, I am planning on majoring in International Politics and Economics (IPE) at Middlebury College. This article outlines how the field of economics is getting a lot more mathematical (statistics and so on) rather than theoretical and political (with a quote from a Middlebury professor too). While I am interested in the social aspects of economics, I am also drawn more to the political side rather than the number crunching (even if it ends in crazy theories such as those supported in Freakonomics).

While I think the IPE major can strike a good balance for me, it is slightly disconcerting to know that my colleagues could be going the super-mathematical route.
