I uploaded some photos from my latest trip to Singapore and Malaysia. It was a fun time on the whole with family. I also got a chance to meet up with Singapore native, Divvya Dasan who I know from Middlebury. She was gracious enough to show me around for an evening. So many thanks to her (although, unfortunately, we have not picture documentation of the event).
Both countries have a really interesting mix of cultures. Singapore looks a lot like the States but actually is made of entirely different foundation. Malaysia is facinating in its Portugese colonial history but also its Chinese and Muslim influences (Malaysia is currently the leader of the Islamic Conference of 57 countries which recently met to try to persuade each other to act in the conflict between Israel and Lebanon).
