One month countdown to the Olympics and I’m kicking off a bit of a Chinese Media party in my internet browser (wow, I’m a nerd) here at work. I’m starting a mini-series of short blog posts about Chinese media since it’s sorta my job here at Splitworks (http://www.spli-t.com). Today’s nugget: MTV China (www.mtvchina.com) which launched a special 100 Ways to Rock with the Olympics promotion.
What to look for: basically, the MTV site tries to harness all that viral “goodness” by asking regular Chinese people like you and me to submit music videos and other media with the one subject in mind: taking the regular and making it Olympic. It’s a lot like what Nike did professionally with these set of “throwback” commercials that really nicely hook into the Chinese mindset with a unique angle. Take a peek.
